Michele Manzo is a globally based, Italian-bred producer, Dj, guitar and bass player. Nurtured on jazz greats such as John Coltrane and Duke Ellington, as a teenager Manzo found himself drawn to hip-hop innovators like J Dilla and A Tribe Called Quest. The multi-instrumentalist views Detroit as the epicenter to his sound, with deep house and brazilian influences. He’s collaborated and performed with soulful musicians such as Georgia Anne Muldrow, Illa J, Dudley Perkins aka Declaime, and Ursula Rucker. In 2018, he toured in support of British musicians Omar Lye-Fook and modern funk artist Amalia of Tokyo Dawn Records. That same year, he also produced his Lonely Horizon album under Inner Ocean Records (Canada), which featured collaborators such as J-LIVE and Moniquea. His music has been supported by the likes of Mr. Scruff and Fred P (Black Jazz Consortium). In 2019, he released a full length project titled All Rise on Darker Than Wax to critical acclaim. Since 2020, he’s been at work on a release for Dirt Tech Reck, utilizing his penchant for analogue hardware and desire to commune with nature. The resulting project takes soul, disco, and electro back to their origins to present something gritty and timeless.
