Usually found in the groove of the nightlife, Mica radiates a unique taste as she serves a lavish mix of disco and techno with a nocturnal feel cozying up at the edges. While her sonic expression revolves mainly around minimal beats, her credentials speak volumes. Spinning back and forth between intimate spaces and global stages, she has played mixes alongside the likes of Shiba San, Cinthie, John Acquaviva, Robert James, Marco Effe, Shaun Reeves, Nakadia, Juliet Fox, Gabriel I, and Darren Emerson, and has even shared the spotlight at Epizode Festival in Vietnam on the Eggs Stage. Mica first sparked an interest in the art of DJ-ing after spending memorable nights in the rave and electronic music scene in London, which slowly turned into a burning passion. Building herself from the underground up, that fiery passion set alight across Southeast Asia, starting out with co-founding Phoenix Room in China and Rising Soul in Japan and the Philippines to running an online radio show on Scientific Sound Asia from Vietnam. Currently residing in Manila, she has also spearheaded event series ‘Footprints’ and ‘LOTUS’, located at different venues around the city, with an intention to promote female DJs across the region. In 2016, she produced her first release via Asia Music Record Label (Manila) and led to a 2-track remix release of Impossible Quintets on Dub Temple Records (Australia). It was then followed by a collaboration with Alinep for Asia Music’s 10th-year compilation entitled “Fahren”, and with another team-up called “Waiting For You”. In 2017, Mica had the fortune of putting her own twist on Robert Miles’ “Children”, which remains to take the #1 spot on Love International, and producing a 3-track EP under the Argentinian record label Elephant Chords. 2020 was a favorable year for her, starting with a track featured on Artefact Records WMC Sampler. She was invited to do a mix for Mixmag Asia Radio which was a spin-off something little different and was a huge hit and launching her local show on Reform Radio and Manila Community Radio. Along with takeover shows on BBC Radio Manchester for Roesh’s Rave and Threads Radio. She continues to get support from BBC Introducing where several of her tracks have been played by the likes of Jaguar on BBC Introducing Dance on Radio 1 as well as BBC Introducing Manchester by DJ Roesh. She released an EP for the launch of Sous Vide Records (Norway) which premiered on the likes of Rhazeh, Verzilla and Meoko, followed by landing herself a Top 100 Minimal/Deep Tech Release (3) and Single (99&100) on Beatport called ‘Grounded on My Own Summer Records (Colombia). Ended the year with ‘Altuma’ ep on Piston Recordings which reached #4 on the December Picks for Deep House on Beatport as well as launching her very own label Sayaw Records dedicated to showcasing local artists. Mica’s release schedule for 2021 is already looking promising with tracks signed on Bombga (Columbia) which has already got support on BBC Radio Manchester, a 2 track EP on Im-Moral (Germany) and part of 2 Various Artist releases one with ExpMental Records (France) and the other with Artefact Records.
