Merph is an Eora-based DJ, producer, radio host, and scientist with a PhD in Social Robotics, specialising in Human-Agent Interaction. While holding a strong affiliation with all things experimental, bass, and percussion related, the diverseness of Merph's day-to-day life reflects the space she holds for music. This reveals a unique and unmatched ability to effortlessly span genres, fuelled by her love for research and exploration. Merph runs Apparent Motion on Skylab radio, a show geared to platforming high-intensity motion, as well as The Bridge on Monday nights at FBi radio where she spotlights local music. A well-seasoned selector with a talent for reading the room, Merph has supported a variety of heavyweight artists such as DJ N Fox, Mark N, Ben UFO, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Egyptian Lover, Moodymann, Mr. G, Jayda G, Bradley Zero, Optimo, Bicep, Job Jobse, Kornél Kovács, CC:Disco, Sleep D, Tornado Wallace, Lauren Hansom, Loods, Air Max '97, Sansibar & DJ Plead, just to name a few. Considered a staple on the local circuit, Merph has also hit festivals Splendour In The Grass and Yours & Owls, played interstate shows PRAXIS [Nipaluna/Hobart], Carefree [Naarm/Melbourne], Daydreams [Naarm/Melbourne] & Dente [Ngunnawal/Canberra], and record mixes for Lobster Theremin [UK], Reprezent Radio [UK], Kulture Lab [South Africa], and local outfits Bizarro, Beats Of No Nation, Skylab Radio, FBi Radio, Construct, Low End Theorists, & TAXX. Amidst the chaos of 2020, Merph and close friend Mantissa released their debut track "Whip" on the Lobster Theremin compilation PLUR Volume 1, with 100% of proceeds going directly to UK charities Mind & Shelter and an independent artist fund for those who contributed who are in need of support during the COVID19 pandemic. Whip has been selected for re-release on the second Globex Corp x Lobster Theramin collaboration LT​-​GLOBE​-​XX2 alongside Jungle royalty Dwarde & Tim Reaper, DJ Sports, and Richard Harrow. Beyond DJing & producing, you'll find Merph running Apparent Motion. The project began as a workshop series aimed at promoting inclusivity, accessibility, and safety in electronic music. Events included 'A Beginners Guide to Record Stores & Turntables' and the widely successful 'Ear Health Workshop'. In parallel, Apparent Motion evolved into a fortnightly show on Sydney's Nomad Radio - championing DnB, Jungle, and sounds that embody "high-intensity motion". During the COVID19 lockdown, Apparent Motion moved home to Melbourne's Skylab Radio where it now airs monthly. Merph also holds down Monday nights on The Bridge at Sydney's FBi Radio 94.5FM, with the show geared towards spotlighting local artists. To keep her mind busy, Merph occasionally covers music specialist shows on FBi Radio, mentors emerging local artists, dabbles in producing jungle breaks, and works on AI-related projects in healthcare, accessibility and inclusion using distributed sound, and with social robots, cars, and drones.
