For the past two years Melis Köke has been roaring her way through club culture and beyond like a very loud V8 Ferrari out of a fairytale. For example in Istanbul, where she worked at Analog Culture amongst the finest records and audio equipment and at NOH Radio as programmer, she had also managed Vamonos Records and set up Istanbul’s first ‘in-store’ DJ sessions and is now an active member of Istanbul/Berlin collective Siraen. Right now she is based in Amsterdam and has become a household name in Radion, where she is represented by Kromanti Agency, and has made frequent appearances in the other hubs of Amsterdam and Berlin nightlife. Behind the decks, Köke refuses to limit herself to any genre or school, making the audience wonder what comes next and in the end having it all blend together smoothly. Her sets are her shared bundles of fast-paced banging & hard hitting sounds, which include but is not limited to: Hard Groove, Tribal Techno and Guaracha. One mission Köke always strives to accomplish (either actively or automatically) is a mix of the raw and timeless, paired against the fresh club sounds coming out of the modern era. By representing her local Istanbul club scene back home, Köke automatically sheds a light on the alternative side of youth and night culture — bringing to the forefront a side of her world which is often left out of the conversation in countries like Turkey. Her communal approach to shared healing is one of the driving forces behind her passion and is bound to make your booty move.
