Come rain or shine you can bank on finding MaxQuerade manning the decks with a smile, a pair of shorts and the tightest mixing in town. As a young lad with lots of hair, MaxQuerade earned his DJ stripes on the small but feisty Oxford circuit supporting acts like Lone, Midland, Call Super, and Helena Hauff as part of his residency with the established Simple gang. Around this time he was also putting in shifts at clubs like Motion in Bristol and flying overseas. This year he’s played alongside names like Solid Blake, Nicolas Lutz, Jasper James and Blawan; at venues like Kitchen Street & The Substation, Baltic Weekender and a marathon eight hour techno set at London’s The Cause with the Altered Voltage crew. Now based in Liverpool he holds down a monthly show on Melodic Distraction together with co-host Paddy Hooley - and over in the club, their recently-launched Dance Floor Mechanics party spotlights upcoming talent from around the UK while emphasising quality sound, immersive atmosphere and a no-bullshit, open-genre attitude. As if this weren’t enough MaxQuerade’s studio work has gone from strength to strength, lately settling into more moody breakbeat territory while retaining the clean power of his tech house jams.
