Mattie (NL)

Mattie resides in the old, underground and cherished sound of '80s and '90s US House. He finds comfort in the historical voices of Chicago, New York and Detroit. Mattie is known for playing multiple genres, not sticking to one particular. To name a few, he plays Deep House, Chicago House, Electro and Acid House. But again, this varies. Mattie has a residency at Birdcage Radio, where he has a monthly show called "House of Pride". In House of Pride, Mattie invites artists from all over the country to play a B2B show with him, focused on the origins of house music, and what it has brought to the current clubbing scene. Mattie is also Co-Founder of Utrecht based collective "Roots". Roots is a passion project created by Mattie and Argento. The two first played together on a halloween stream in 2024 for Stranded FM, where they blended Dark Disco with New Beat and EBM. A year later the two crossed paths again during EKKO’s DJ course, bonding over their love for history and music. From there, Roots was born. Roots is their way of reviving the soul and voice of the underground culture that lived in the ‘80s and ‘90s, where sounds like Chicago House, Italo Disco and Belgian New Beat collided into one clear message: unity. By revisiting those roots, and telling the story of why these times were so important, the two aim to inspire a new generation of clubbers about a forgotten voice. Mattie has frequently featured at venues like Teatro, DB's, ACU, 5th Avenue, Beton-T and radio stations Operator, Open Source, Stranded FM, Birdcage Radio, OBERHAUM, Radio Weesper and more.
