Mário Rodrigues, also known as Masterfield, from Porto, had his first contact with DJing and turntablism/scratch at the age of 18, showing great interest and empathy for the art. He devoted himself early on to the Electronic and Drum and Bass genres, along with two longtime friends who were responsible for his entire involvement in the scene. In 2010, after three years of experimentation, they decided to commit to creating the "Mad Control" collective, which would consist of three members (Smollik, Kazi, and Masterfield). From 2010 to 2015, they put their experimental period into practice and showcased the versatility of their sets in clubs both inside and outside of Porto. They performed with national names such as Original Pressure, Trap, Dusty, Downbeat, Fragz, Nuno Forte, and Dogs United, as well as international artists like Camo & Krooked, S.P.Y, Metrik, Rockwell, Counterstrike, Donny, and others. Due to the bond that always united them and the dedication associated with the project, they were invited to join the Massive Braga promoter, of which they were a part and shared many experiences. After 5 years, they decided to put the "Mad Control" project on hold for personal reasons. In 2016, Masterfield started a solo project with a more generalist and daring approach, incorporating his hip-hop roots and the bold style that kept him connected to drum & bass. He received an invitation to join the Rockit Music record label/promoter, alongside artists like Smélio, Dogma, Duplo, and others, where he showcased his scratch skills on singles and stages like the Copenhagen bar, Hard Club, Armazém do Chá, and Fnac Showcase. In the present day, after a 12-year journey fueled by a solid love for drum & bass culture, Masterfield received an unexpected invitation to join the legendary record label and promoter, Counterpoint, which provided him with a more professional interaction. At 33 years old, he is committed and determined to begin a new chapter focused on music production, promising to take his productions as far as possible. Music is his passion, and between records, decks, and dance floors, Masterfield feels at home. He will continue to spread his skills with the help of his new family in the present and future.
