Martone (US)
Biografía
Martone is a NYC-native based in Houston who seasons the futuristic allure of techno with dub textures, hypnotic vocals, and distressed percussion—all grounded by a heavy low end. His sets draw inspiration from the sci-fi side of Detroit-style techno and formative experiences growing up in New York City's club scene.
Before diving into electronic music, Martone’s fascination with sound was shaped by eclectic sources: the smooth grooves of CD101.9, classic SEGA game soundtracks, and the synth-soaked atmosphere of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
He has performed in cities including New York, Beirut, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Denver, Austin, and Houston, sharing stages with artists such as DVS1, DJ Stingray, Decoder, and Mor Elian. Martone’s DJ sets guide the crowd through a deep, immersive journey that circles back to its origin—familiar, yet changed
Since the late 2010s, Martone has fabricated music through hardware-based production. Each release is paired with a piece of steel artwork, hand-fabricated by Martone himself. In 2023, he co-founded Mercalli Recordings with Italian artist Black/6. The label now holds a monthly residency on Houston’s Ice House Radio. In addition to three releases on Mercalli, his productions have also appeared on Haunting Vision, 52 Weeks, Temples of Rhythm, and Modular HTX.
Beyond music, Martone is the creative force behind ApacheAudioArt, a design studio known for its DJ booths that blend the line between designer furniture and pro audio equipment. He also fabricates the artwork for his releases out of steel.
