Marivs is one of the few techno artists who represent the Toronto underground scene, considered as a techno authority, not just with performances and productions, but also with a vinyl only event series orchestrated under his own project called Kaleidoscope. Born and raised in the mystical land of Transylvania, part of today's Romania, he found himself dazzled by electronic music from the early 90’s. After a few years of his own musical exploration, he began spinning all types of electronic music on vinyls, CDs and cassettes for a local radio station and private events. His talent and ceaseless pursuit of electronic music granted him a residency at one of the most esteemed music clubs in town. This experience imparted to him the art of selecting and mixing tracks under pressure and communicating with a crowd. In the years that followed he was invited to perform at other clubs and festivals in Romania. In the early 2000s the emergence of music software such as Rebirth, Reason and Ableton Live afforded Marivs the ability to start producing his own music, previously only a possibility with expensive hardware. In 2013 Marivs relocated to Toronto, Canada and in 2017 he founded his own promotional label, Kaleidoscope, with the purpose of promoting truth and integrity in the art of electronic music. Techno staples such as Nicole Moudaber, Freddy K and Antwon Faulkner have provided support for his productions, which have been released on labels such as Resource Records (LA), Blast (Köln), Techno Traum (Berlin), Hijacked (Detroit), Architextures (Toronto), FlyHigh (London). Behind the decks, Marivs's presence is commanding yet inviting, in a similar way that his selections are dark and driving, yet delicate. A perfectionist and a purist, Marivs has an innate ability to manipulate his music and to tell a story with each set like few others can. In his own words: "Music shouldn't wake you up.
