Marija

Marija studied music composition at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in the class of Rytis Mažulis, one of the key figures in Lithuanian minimalism. As a theatre composer, Marija has collaborated with many of Lithuania’s leading institutions. Her most notable work, the electroacoustic score for the ballet Days, Minutes, choreographed by Martynas Rimeikis, premiered at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre in 2019 and earned her the Golden Cross of the Stage award for Best Theatre Composer. Marija’s background in contemporary composition profoundly shapes her approach to electronic and club music. Her mixes reflect a composer’s sensibility: motifs recur, textures evolve, and contrasting elements merge into a unified, dynamic structure. While techno remains at the core of her sound, her sets often incorporate elements of acid and trance. She has performed live at festivals such as Audra and Gaida, including a recent collaboration with renowned Lithuanian composer Mindaugas Urbaitis, where they reinterpreted elements of M. K. Čiurlionis’s music in a live, club-oriented context, bridging Lithuanian musical heritage and contemporary electronic culture. Marija holds residencies at the clubs Elastica (Vilnius) and Auditorija (Kaunas).
