Manu De Soleure
Biografía
Zürich-based DJ Manu de Soleure comes from the Swiss canton of Solothurn, his chosen name hinting at this heritage (Soleure being the French appellation of his hometown). While a student in physics, he discovered that the most fascinating phenomena in nature are neither ordered nor disordered, but rather in a strange in-between state. Yet, he refuses to restrict the exploration of this sweet spot to the realm of science, and so extends his research to music and deejaying.
His sound palette reveals a strong affinity for strange, deep and dark tunes, while his vinyl collection contains a wide range of (Detroit) Electro, House and Techno, and early UK Tech House. For Manu, each record acquired depends less on the style itself and more on the mood experienced that day. Not one to stick to a sole genre, he revels in playing slower styles such as New Beat or wave-y tunes when the context is fitting. He additionally curates a collection of music specifically intended for attentive listening, including ambient, IDM, and field recordings.
Manu de Soleure runs symplektik, a label and monthly ambient and experimental radio show on gds.fm. Symplektik also holds a residency at the hidden club in Solothurn, renowned as one of Switzerland’s deepest venues for club music.
