Manolito is my name. I’m a DJ and producer. When I was a spotty 12 year old, I started listening to badass underground hip-hop and rap.The first time I ever got on the decks was at a friends place. The guy had turntables somehow, and we spent hours trying to scratch and mix records. He had a load of records from his dad (a cool cat) and we messed around with music of many genres: Swing, funk, jazz, soul, 60s, 70s, rare-groove and old school rap. At 16, I blagged my way into my first Techno party. I was surprised and impressed by the DJ. It was the first time I’d ever heard a proper mixed dance set on a massive sound system. It was pretty WOW! I couldn’t believe the dude could seamlessly mix two records into one. For me it was a logical decision: I wanted to be that guy, standing up there, with the club at my fingertips. In the beginning I played a lot of freaky minimal stuff. I love it when the music seems to have a kind of electricity, ended up in a mix of everything I identify myself with. My curiosity for different musical styles has taken me on several detours and ended up in a mix of everything with which I can identify myself.
