Biografía
Musician and producer Mahmood Schricker received his MA in Ethnomusicology from York University. As founder of Link Music Labs he has supported the promotion and creation of Iranian-Canadian music. He has continued to explore mixing of urban/electronic soundscapes and the classical Persian Dastgah system in his debut album Null (2012).
The album which was supported by a grant from Ontario Arts Council and
produced by Link Music Lab, includes collaborations with a number of renowned Iranian/Canadian vocalists, including Mohsen Namjoo, Habib Meftah Boushehri and Mariam Tollar. The album was reviewed by the leading world music magazine SONGLINES and received 4/5 stars.
Released in September 2018, his sophomore album El Muerte continues to explore and create new sounds in electronic music. El Muerte is a dark dub music set to the backdrop of delicate and fragile melodies. With his custom made Persian electric setar at the center of his performance, the beats and bass are interwoven with his laptop.
