M Data continues to progress within the live electronic music scene in the U.K. and beyond. The M Data live set draws on multi-genre influences; a techno, minimal, acidy, deep-house, Detroit, dub, glitch, analog / modular live set is packed with energetic transitional grooves that continually evolve and mutate, providing a journey through dark, deep, heavy and light, from beginning to end. Over the past 3 years, the live set has provided the basis for many releases without sequencing of any master tracks/recordings. Each track is a one-take, live, 2-track recording, the underlying foundation being that electronic music is often not performed and recorded live. Studio recording is often unable to capture emotional elements and nuances present when artists perform live - the set is there to challenge this. Releases in 2023/24 included several EP’s via various labels including The Acid Mind, Subplant Records, Industrial Coast, Green Blade tapes, 8 self released EP’s, ThoughtProcess live and studio albums, and a 2h 30m Live Ableton set recorded exclusively for, and broadcast via MinimalDetroit / DeepSpaceRadio. Live gigs included regular Organik residencies, Noisebox at Bloc Glasgow, Marrapalooza Festival, NorthernTape Festival, and also World Headquarters support live act for Detroit legend Robert Hood.
