Lucas von Graevenitz, aka Luk, grew up in Punta del Este, Uruguay immersed in the local electronic scene. Now based in Melbourne, he is a dedicated digger and a timeless selector. Luk’s curiousity and passion for music began in 2001, when he first listened to the early Perlon releases, the Closer To Edit by Richie Hawtin or the famous Taka Taka set by Ricardo Villalobos. After some years immersing himself in the scene, attending parties at clubs like Milenio in Montevideo or La Morocha in Punta del Este, developing friendships, and rapidly acquiring musical knowledge, he felt the insatiable urge to nurture his passion and learn to express it. In 2005, with his friend Florencio, they first began mixing records, encouraged and inspired by artists and friends like Dj Koolt, Bruno Gervais, Nicolás Lutz, Omar, Fede Lijtmaer, Paco and artists such as Franco Cinelli, Jonas Kopp and Andrés Zacco from Argentina. All of whom left an important mark in their career. He left South America in 2008 to travel the world, opening his heart, mind and ears to new friends and musical experiences. Always gaining inspiration from his surroundings, and remaining firmly loyal to the medium of vinyl records, Luk’s musical vision continues to evolve today. His work in analog format is wrapped in a variety of sounds with different textures. Unearthing genre-blending gems, Luk is always stimulating the listener's senses and adapting to the moment, creating experiences that transcend time and place. Currently based in Melbourne, Australia, his present focus is geared towards the Losing Control project. The materialisation of his fine appreciation for diverse musical spectrum, Losing Control a crackerjack collective emerging international artists through events across the country.
