Lotrax's love for music began at a young age, picking up drumming from the age of 9, where he found himself experimenting with drum covers and drum edits of Metal, Dance and Pop. His taste in music knows no bounds, and having being introduced to Dance music by his parents who met in Glasgows infamous Sub Club in 1995, little did they know that 20 years later at the age of 17, their only child would develop an obsession with music production. The Glaswegian first began releasing edits and bootlegs of popular chart music onto SoundCloud under his LNSD alias, however after a couple of years self-learning the ins and outs of production, he decided it was time to take the next step and turn a hobby into a career: thus, Lotrax – a musical play on Dr Seuss’ ‘The Lorax’ – was born. Taking inspiration from the Glasgow’s rich nightlife and a vast spectrum of dance music, such as UK Garage, Minimal, Deep House, Drum & Bass and Breaks, Lotrax aims to encapsulate his taste in music into his own, versatile productions. Since the launch of Lotrax in 2018, he has gone on to build a large portfolio of releases on labels worldwide – his passion for bringing non-dance tracks into the clubs continuing with an array of House flips of music hits, such as his edit of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Superstition’, which has amassed over 1 million plays on premier Tech House platform Blanc. The lockdown era of 2020 seen him gain four Beatport Top 10 releases in Minimal / Deep Tech, a genre the majority of his current releases falls under. Lotrax has had an array of his productions featured on BBC Radio 1’s Introducing Dance show, with one of his unreleased tracks being chosen as Jaguar’s Dancefloor Moment in 2021. Aside from production, Lotrax gained a first-class honours degree in Audio Technology in 2022, which consolidated his practical experience with theory in audio. He is also the Co-owner and A&R for London-based record label Manipulated Frequency with plans in place for a second label in the near future. He has supported some of the biggest names in Dance music, such as Basement Jaxx, Hannah Wants, Illyus & Barrientos and Kolter, as well as playing in clubs across the UK and Ibiza. 2023 started with a bang as Lotrax’s efforts achieved further notice from BBC Introducing, where he was invited to perform a mix for BBC Introducing in Scotland on the radio. The Lotrax sound is broad and exciting; one that is designed for a range of audiences, focussing on human-audible interactions and evoking emotion and feeling from listeners.
