Erick Cortes is a San Francisco-based DJ and producer weaving the rich sounds of Latin America with the pulse of American dance music. Born in Mexico and brought to the U.S. as a baby, he was raised on the deep, underground sounds of cumbia sonidera—raw city cuts straight from Mexico City and Puebla—along with salsa, Spanish rock, Spanish pop, and the diverse rhythms of Latin America. Growing up in an urban environment, he was equally shaped by hip-hop, forging a unique musical identity that blends Latin soul with disco, house, and funk. Coming from a family where dancing is everything, music has always been more than just sound—it’s movement, tradition, and expression. A dedicated record collector and event organizer, Erick’s sets transcend genres, moving fluidly through baile funk, house, Italian disco, and cumbia. With family roots in Mexico City and a strong musical lineage—including a DJ uncle and relatives who perform in church choirs—music runs deep in his blood. As a producer, he crafts tracks in dembow, reggaeton, techno, Latin house, and tribal, drawing inspiration from legends like Louie Vega, Moodymann, and King Doudou.
