DJ, Producer & KANAL 6 label head Leon Schanzenbach's deeply rooted addiction to music began when he started to think & maybe it was even before. His parents would tell him that the music he heard when he was just born has hugely influenced what Leon is doing now. At the age of 3, Leon was already at a point where he had developed a taste for music such as Linkin Park, Metallica, Radiohead and Korn. By the time he was 5 he was playing the guitar and as he grew a little older, Leon began to pave the way for his future of performing music. At 9 years old, Leon was playing with a band in front of crowds at venues including Tanzhaus Treffer where he would later play often as a DJ. Frustrated by the clubbing scene where he’d been sneaking in as an underage raver, at 16 Leon decided it was his time to demonstrate his sound to the masses. His electronic influence formally came from the sounds of Gesaffelstein, Drum and Bass, Dubstep and then gravitating to genres that would come to mould his sound of techno. A sound including strong kicks, rumbling basslines, percussive grooves and complex patterns to create maximum energy. At 18, Leon was playing live gigs around his hometown Ingolstadt. Wanting every opportunity to feed the hunger for his style of music, he was invited to play at venues such as Buddha Club, Theaterfabrik, Ampere Club, Basement and Off-Location Raves where he would sometimes play the 10–12-hour marathon sets that he became renowned for. Soon he began putting on his own parties, open airs & raves alongside his brother and his friends, and as time progressed, these raves turned into official club parties. They started a club night at Tanzhaus Treffer, a mainstream club that allowed them to turn the venue to the underground. People from all over Bavaria between Munich and Nuremberg would travel to experience the energy commanded by the Schanzenbach’s and their friends, to what would soon become their own domain; ‘KANAL 6’ which has since grown to a label, party, and podcast series. Using these successes as a platform for themselves and other like-minded artists to showcase, Leon spread his wings into production and made his debut release as an addition to KANAL 6’s Various Artists compilation in May 2021. Since Leon made the move to Berlin where he’s found himself in an endless dream of techno and has been extending his influence in dance spaces there, whilst also travelling across the borders to play at ‘Cross Club’ in Prague and ‘ENTER’ in Budapest. Now, with a promising 2022 ahead Leon has joined the Percussive Agency, a new artist agency that holds a family of techno influenced artists and stipulates the influence of the sound of Leon Schanzenbach.
