Céline Amélie Alcaraz aka La Portenya DJ is co-founder, beatmaker and back vocalist in the band La Portenya y los Piratas. Her musical tastes have always been driven by fusion between different black music styles. She is French with Spanish origins. She grew up in Marseille, listening to hip-hop, metal fusion and electronic music in the mid 90’s / 00’s European Raves. As artistic director for the Club La Factory SXM in Sint Maarten in 2011, she traveled through the Caribbean where her DJ sessions evolved up to the electro cumbia, nu cumbia, afrobeat, kuduro and other tropikal rhythms.
