Krithi is a Chennai-born, Brooklyn-based music producer, DJ, and music tech educator. With a distinct sonic signature marked by percussive intricacies and genre-blending innovation, Krithi has carved a unique space for herself in the contemporary music landscape. With roots in Jazz and Carnatic vocals, Krithi took an unexpected yet exciting turn in 2020 to create instrumental-only percussive rich music that provides a rhythmic escapade to captivate listeners. The boundaries between genres blur, and her beats tell stories of cultural intersections and sonic experimentation. Her self-released projects include “Padapadappu,” “Nilap-parappu” and “Uyirudan,” while she has also contributed to compilation projects by the newly launched label Bubblin’ (BB001) and UK-based collective Daytimers (DT001). When she's not cooking up beats, she works for Building Beats and We Make Noise NYC (fka Beats by Girlz NYC), two US-based organizations dedicated to making music technology more accessible for marginalized communities. She has also launched her own teaching project “kuttiBEATS” (“kutti” means child or little one in Tamil)—an online platform that allows kids and young adults to tap into their experience as digital natives and express their creativity through music tech.
