Konifer
Biografía
Inspired by landscapes and movement, Konifer began experimenting with electronic music seeking freedom to connect with expansive narratives as well as interpretation of the world around him. This includes collecting field recordings from exploratory outings, most importantly in the Brazilian Amazon, site of his continuing research.
In 2019, Konifer and longtime collaborator Kinjo launched the Rhizome record label, a LA/Seattle-based platform for releasing both vinyl and digital music. Rhizome focuses on modern minimal-leaning music while emphasizing its emotive and organic side. West Coast artists featured on the label include JamRat, Summit Dub, Volen, Mycelium Mustard, Kinjo, and Them Mean Reds with more to come. The label also hosts the monthly radio show Not The Only Universe on C89.5 Seattle.
Alongside Konifer’s partner, fellow Los Angeles artist ELLEM, the Mirror&Web project provides a space for creative, socio-environmental activism with an added emphasis on textiles. Konifer has deejayed alongside/produced events with international inspirations such as Sepp, Mihigh, Christopher Ledger, Janeret, Matthew Dekay, Leo Leal, Afriqua, Archie Hamilton, Melodie, ASC, Trikk, Mira, and Powel. He spent 2019 living in Brazil where he performed in Belém, Alter do Chão, and at D-EDGE in São Paulo. Burning Man continues to be a yearly tradition for Konifer where he is a resident DJ/music director for Camp Conception.
