Born and raised in Poland, kliin found his way into the Swedish techno scene in the 90’s as his love for bands like Depeche Mode and New Order acted as a gateway drug to heavier abuse – lethal stuff like Plastikman, Laurent Garnier and Underworld. To this day, kliin retains his affection for all of the above. He has now been an integral part of the electronic underground scene in Stockholm for ten years, and while his current DJ sets rely heavily on grim industrial techno, his synth and EBM background still shines through. kliin has been absolutely instrumental in combining the underground techno scene with the gay club community in Stockholm into a potent amalgamation. Two cultures operating in the fringe of society, mustering energy and power from the existence and actions of those who refused to “choose life”, or never had the choice at all. A common ground for those that have to hide to be able to show themselves. The queer, the misfits, the dissenters, the beautiful people of the night. You can’t put a leash on these people (unless it’s fine leather) but on the dancefloor, kliin is their natural shepherd. SLM, Uranus, Erectus and SPIT are all clubs closely connected to kliin, but he has also working the floors at ФOMO, FIST and the Dekadance and Unleashed-parties, just to mention a few. From dim-lit hotel foyers to heavily vibrating techno basement parties, kliin has shared booth with acts like CJ Bolland, KR!Z, James Ruskin, Sleeparchive, CTRLS, Phase Fatale, Fidel and CEM from Herrensauna, to mention a few. Late 2017 Kliin went to Netherlands to play the Hoppa party in Amsterdam and was immediately asked back for seconds in January 2018. FLIM/AMBIENT While he certainly made a name for himself these last few years as one of the finest techno DJs in the Swedish capital, Kliin’s name is still closely linked with the solemn Aphex Twin track “Flim”. And no wonder. Borrowing the name of that very song, Kliin has organized a large number of events focusing on ambient and electronica. Flim residency at Volt festival, Pop up shows inside Dome of Visions at The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and a recent collaboration with Błażej Malinowski and his silent movie project ‘Why So Silent’ are just some of the highlights. But the greatest Flim event to this date was the duo of live concerts with Biosphere inside the massive Full Dome theatre at the Swedish Museum of Natural History 2015. One for the history books and a true testimony of Kliin’s dedication to the scene. VJ Whether focusing on making people dream or dance, the contrast between light and darkness is always present in everything Kliin touches. This is made very apparent in his work as a VJ: Distorted black and white shapes and gay porn flicks warped into glitchy patterns. The warm flesh deformed by cold technology and murky machinery. But this is also an apt description of his point of view as a DJ. Kliin is a true cineaste and his sets play out as movies aimed at spellbinding the audience, always thoroughly prepared and executed especially for a specific crowd and place. Sometimes he plays for big techno dance floors, and sometimes for a cluster of darkrooms. Either way, there’s a lot of pounding going on when Kliin’s in charge.
