Kleine Pia
Biografía
Throughout her whole music career, Kleine Pía aka Pía Sotomayor, has been channeling two decades of creative energy across multiple roles, dimensions, and disciplines, in the Chilean and Latin American underground communities: having mixed and overlapping roles including journalist, historian, promoter, creative director, talent buyer, music producer, artist manager, DJ and radio host, and now as president of IME - Asociación Gremial Industria Musical Electrónica Independiente de Chile, the local union that brings together the main actors of the Chilean electronic scene.
Since her debut as a DJ in 2003, she has been mixing techno, house, electro, breakbeats, and experimental club music locally and performing in Perú, México, Colombia, Argentina, USA, and Germany. She also played on the Chilean editions Mutek, Creamfields, and Mysteryland, and recorded sessions for internet radio stations: Rinse France, BBC Radio 6, Documenta, Onda Mundial, Whereabouts, Club Sauna, Radar Radio, Threads, Refuge, Internet Public Radio, and Currents / COMMON, just to name a few.
After several years of experimenting with synthesizers and rhythm machines, in 2019 Kleine Pia dropped her first single “Worst Case Scenario” produced by Raw C and mastered by Atom TM. More music came in 2020: "Rx" on Panal Records Anniversary VA, "malware" on Resiliencia Vol 1. compilation, and "Rio" on Halcxn's Campo Magnético.
In 2022 came her first Ep Multi Level Void via Filiae, a three-track EP transiting from noise, drone, and spoken word to experimental techno. Multi Level Void was released with remixes by Ron Morelli, Valesuchi, and Tomás Urquieta, head of the Mexican-USAmerican label Filiæ, and mastered by AtomTM.
In 2024, Kleine Pia curated Air Texture's Place:Chile VA, and shared a new single, "Sombra Andes".
