The rather fucked up reality of post communist Sofia in the mid 90’s – early 2000 forced many of the young and progressive locals to provide some ingenious answers to various existential or even practical questions in order to make it somehow. KEi did so for himself, but also had his additional set of questions because of his specific interest in electronic music. Questions such as: What if my nickname is the transcribed sound of the letter K which appears to be the first one in my real name? What if I listen to this weird new friend, Strahil (later known as KiNK) and pay significant attention to both bootleg tapes of Joey Beltram and Aphex Twin? What if I put that 1,44mb floppy disk in my computer to boot Fast Tracker through a do-it-yourself 8-bit sound card and skip the Karateka for a while? What if I start bringing my god damn heavy desktop computer in those Sofia heavy-metal bars and play them some of the house and techno tracks produced in Chicago, Detroit and Berlin and pirated through my and my neighbor's ultra slow modem Internet connection? What if I find my own way of emulating the sounds of all those tools I cannot posses in this very moment? That were questions at his modest beginnings that arguably found their answers and cemented him a specific status in this rather obscure electronic music scene of Sofia. Much more has followed and much more is yet to come as he continues to look deeper and wider than most with ability to stun people with rather unexpected and diverse music selection as a DJ and expand his vast knowledge in the production/studio game.
