Biografía
Hailing from Harlem and based in Seoul, KARLLLL is a genre-fluid artist with a style that ranges
from lawful and uplifting to chaotic and dark. Using sound as a language to communicate with
crowds, her heavier club sets integrate the bass-heavy rhythms of hard drum, hard groove,
Gqom, baile funk, and jersey club, as well as other Afro-diasporic genres.
KARLLLL also indulges in a variety of house sub-genres that span high energy to hypnotic
and everything in between. In her residency at Seoul mainstay Stoked & Stoned, it is not
uncommon to hear her spinning acid house, afro house, and tech house, with dashes of
soulful house and disco. As a genre-fluid DJ, one of KARLLLL’s recurring sonic goals is to blur electronic music lines and boundaries.
KARLLLL has been featured on lineups alongside international acts such as DJ Python, Call
Super, Shy One, Claptone, Mina, Bryte, Bobby Beethoven, The Whooligan, Tayhana and
CC:DISCO!, as well as local heavyweights such as DJ co.kr, Ligrye, NET GALA, and BRLLNT.
Her sound has been showcased at events hosted by MixMag Korea, Halfmoon BK, Visla
Magazine, Vans, Tommy Hilfiger, Mercedes Benz, Nike, and FELT.
As part of the DJ/producer crew Unborn Sounds and B2B duo The Roommates, KARLLLL and her
collaborators continue to push sonic boundaries in Seoul and beyond. In February 2024, she and fellow DJ, Shlemba, launched Critical Rave Theory, a month-long celebration of Black History Month and
diasporic dance music in the Seoul underground scene. No matter the venue, event, or
crowd, KARLLLL’s main goal is to build community while having a good time.
