Kamu Kamu is a dynamic force in the world of music, art, and cultural preservation. Known for his eclectic and soulful sets, Kamu Kamu has held residencies across the globe, from vibrant San Francisco to the rich cultural landscapes of Uganda and South Africa. Frequently performing in London, Miami, Nassau & New York, his sets are infused with a deep respect for both modern and ancestral sounds. After a 9-year hiatus, Kamu Kamu has made a powerful return to the DJ scene with a renewed focus on Afrocentric sounds, blending Western electronic genres with tribal and indigenous influences. His music is a celebration of diversity, symbolized by his name, derived from the ancient Luganda proverb “Kamu Kamu gwe muganda.” meaning “One by One makes a bundle.” This proverb encapsulates his mission of bringing people and cultures together, one track at a time. Kamu Kamu has always shunned the spotlight, preferring to dedicate his energy to the craft and to amplifying the voices of those yet to be heard. This is evident in his role as an ambassador for the African Identity Institute, a California-based nonprofit dedicated to the research, celebration & preservation of African cultural heritage. In collaboration with the institute, he co-developed the 510 Sessions in Oakland, CA - a continuous series of events that celebrate local artists and their deep connection to DJ culture and the city’s vibrant community.
