Jersey-born, Queens-based producer Kala Btz fka DJ Kala is a familiar name to the NYC music scene. As a Red Bull Music Academy Alumni he has performed in venues across the country, from New York's Webster Hall to The Lash in LA, to mainstay events like Bonnaroo Fest and South by Southwest, and has shared the stage with artists such as Anna Morgan and Machine Girl. Having grown up listening to everything from punk,to rap, and drum n bass, Kala produces an eclectic and hybrid sound that crosses genre barriers and mood, with cinematic and dance floor appeal. His forward- thinking, energetic sound has led to guest DJ mixes with The Lot Radio, Reprezent Radio, Half Moon,NTS Radio, Boiler Room and Rinse FM. Kala's self-released music has also been featured on The Fader, Thump,Mixmag and FactMag. With an audio engineering and music production degree from the Institute of Audio Research, he has scored independent films such as LeDenier Combat through Videology. His desire to cultivate with precision and quality is unmistakable. Kala is sure to deliver, whether he's in the studio or on stage.
