JULLS is a Dominican-Puerto Rican DJ and sonic curator drawn to cinematic, bass-heavy sets that blur genre and expectation. Raised between NYC and New Jersey, their family upbringing immersed them in merengue, reggaeton, R&B, and hip-hop—laying the foundation for an evolving palette that now spans techno, electro, EBM, tribal, DNB, trance, and deconstructed club. Their style thrives on tension and release, often weaving in horror-inspired textures, film/game soundtrack influences, and spoken word. For JULLS, “scaring the hoes” isn’t just a cheeky phrase—it’s a form of catharsis rooted in the queer and trans experience: fierce, emotional, confrontational, and liberating. Since entering Chicago’s underground in 2021, JULLS has become their own force on and off the dancefloor—DJing, hosting, and having worked behind the scenes with collectives like Hidden Ideas, MICTLĀN, Transient, Eutopia, BITT3N, and more.
