Joss Martin
Biografía
Joss Martin is a DJ and Producer from Mexico, a man who
has travelled to many different countries to study and
live. After spending his former growth years in Mexico,
he went on to experience many different parts of the
globe, graduating from the school of Visual Arts in
London and mastered his photography skills in Paris.
When he returned to Mexico, he really began to learn
that he was a true creative soul. Understanding,
appreciating and loving his beautiful mixed culture
more than he could have imagined.
This ignited something inside and for many years he
experimented creatively and worked as a professional
photographer, music-video and documentary director and
editor. This landed him in India for a while and after
returning to Mexico again a few years ago, he started
spinning records in a local bar. He went from carrying
turn-tables to gigs to becoming a resident
DJ of 7 venues in some of the trendiest areas across
Mexico City.
Music was a passion and a hobby for him, but he never
thought that at any
point producing and playing music would consume and
complete his life.
He plays the music of the "sounds of the world" in techno interpretation, where
important is still a powerful techno-tribal rhythm. It’s mixed with rock guitars,
electro sounds and live recordings from all over the globe. Both his Live and
DJ set is an electronic act, a journey based on his original material. The main
component is harmony, expressed through a combination of rhythm, melody and organic
sounds. Decisive and spontaneous, Joss Martion never fails to create a complete
special atmosphere - an experience in which
“the consciousness dances and the body thinks".
Playing festivals and renowned clubs in many cities, he went on to secure consecutive
tours in Israel, Germany, France, Netherlands, England, Spain, Switzerland, Mexico and
Russia. Sharing the stage with artist like Acid Pauli, Viken Arman, Jenifer Cardini,
Matanza, Nicola Cruz, El Búho, Nu, Geju, Lee Burridge, Yokoo, Concret, Mira, Just Emma,
Kerala Dust and many more magical people.
“I have loved music since I remember. Sounds, rhythms, ambients, nature, noisy sirens and the speeches
shared by the cities. With all this information, I like to think of the romantic idea that everything can
be a life symphony, kind of a soundtrack. Music is a way to express art coming from the soul and it can
affect us in many different ways. Dancing is part of the traditional life celebration and I’m blessed,
honoured and more than happy for being part of this incredible journey. A journey that I can share
everywhere the music goes.” - Joss Martin.
