Having moved to Berlin in 2022 to study a masters in Creative Electronic Music Production, Josh Em has been honing his craft as a composer and performer of experimental electronic music. His use of analogue synthesis, manipulation of field recordings and inventive studio techniques combine to enable the focus on abstract storytelling in both his recorded music and live performances, generating output for focussed listening and for the dancefloor. As a solo live performer, Josh Em has played across Berlin at venues such as Kwia, Acud Macht Neu and Loophole, and in 2023 produced an A/V set for Transmediale festival alongside visual artist Connor Oman. When in the UK, he performed support slots for high-profile artists such as Suzanne Ciani and Hermeto Pascoal. His DJ sets focus on variation, using a colourful palette of disparate styles and energies to create danceable narratives that move from the joyful to the surreal, the heady, the fragile, and all point in between. Josh Em is also a Etikett Radio host, streaming live twice a month from the Funkhaus, Berlin.
