Jose, who also goes by the moniker of Phunk Floyd, was born in 19??. He started early being involved with music at the age of 12 when he was introduced to the classical genre. Later, at the age of 14, he started his first electronic rock band playing covers of Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, New Order, and others. After 3 years he decided to join forces with Domingo Caballero a.k.a Dezzy, who is one of the most influencial faces of Ecuador's electronic scene. They started their own project called 'Darkness', releasing their first 12" 'Frustration/Just A Joke' in 1990. The single was relatively successful around the country and on the radio stations. Jose took a break to study in the States for five years soon after this. After his return, he formed the first live electronica act in Ecuador called 'Ultra 7' with his partner Dezzy. They played music that ranged from Ambient to Drum & Bass to Breaks. This opened the door for and inspired many others to create live act in the country and made the scene begin to flourish. Jose left 'Ultra 7' when he saw the possibilities of his DJ career taking off. He began DJing at Pelikano Beach Club and also producing tracks ranging from minimal tech to house and progressive. Jose is now known in Ecuador as one of the founding fathers of the electronic music scene.He created one of the most popular festivals in Ecuador called Montañita Dance Music and Arts were he has invited such talent as Seth Troxler, Nayaam Nidan, Butane, Glimpse, Argenis Brito, Franco Bianco , Sweet & Candy, Lineas de Nazca, sean reeves among others , also cofounded the Electromundo Parties where he had the privilege to perform and present artists of the likes of Mr c, ripperton, Ryan Crosson, Guti, Anthony Collins, Felipe Venegas, Dani Casarano, Seph, Jorge Savoreti, Appendics Shuffle, Alejandro Vivanco, Jay Haze, etc He has performed next to world famous talent such as Danny Howells, John Digweed, damian lazarus, Anthony Pappa ,sharam j , hernan cattaneo, Jimmy Van M, Lexicon Avenue, James Zabiela ,, Burnski,Deniz Kurtel, Matt Tolfrey, konrad Black, Rowan blades, franco cinelli, Federico Molinari, , Gurtz ,Dj Three, Dean coleman,Delete,maurice aymard,Martin Garcia, Tiesto????? yeah belive it or not but "its all about the benjamins era" for mua ......., Leama,London 909,, Vich & Berger,all of the above and many more. After playing in virtually every South American country and had steady residencies at clubs and fests like La Feria (santiago de Chile), Trippy Trippy Fest (Cuenca), Inti Fest (Peru) ,Mdma y Electromundo (My best times in Montañita), Chongon Parade, El Blues (Quito) ,LOST beach club (montañita). Nowadays Jose plans on releasing some new stuff during this summer always trying to reinvent himself (he is old as shit) but also keeping that oldschool vibe wich have become his maine signature over the years . He currently hosts a monthly clubnight in the best club in Ecuador Electromundo in Montañita one of the most famous and underground beaches in this part of the continent which has achieved much success and is driving the local scene. He has release in colaboration with dani casarano and felipe valenzuela on Metro line Ltd , also on alleph compilation 1 with talent such as someone else, scsi 9, sarah goldfarb ,shadi megalla, franco bianco, also remixed dub dummies on dareks label among side butane and have a ep on perubian's label shitfuck records among others .Currently, Jose is in the studio remixing the up and coming debut ep on argentinian wizard/artist franco bianco's label that will be release with remixes by respected talent in the european circuit of the likes of brett johnson , also this will be his first vinil with a colaboration with Encebolladoman (the best keep secret in the Ecuadorian Arsenal) , coming this summer to the nearest walmart http://www.beatport.com/artist/jose-wated/105598
