Freebeat Shubaka Downbeat José Rico has earned an international reputation as a producer (and DJ) with his refined and elegant combination of downtempo rhythms with dub, incorporating influences from house, American techno and 1990s European abstract electronica. He currently runs the Downbeat and Freebeat labels, and has worked with such renowned producers as Ron Trent, Mike Huckaby, DJ F, Specter and Leonid. His releases on international labels include Dubvolution (Into the Deep Rec), Dreams With The Mirror Planet ( Off Minor) a records which has enjoyed excellent reviews and which figured among the ten best records of 2016 in lists from respected names such as Amoeba Music.
