Originally from the Highlands of Scotland where I grew up, I relocated down south & have been living in Bristol for over 15 years - a city I now call home. I have been collecting house & techno records for over 20 years and am very much a vinyl DJ. For me quality track selection and programming are the most important aspects of DJ'ing - incorporating silky smooth mixes, building momentum whilst subtlety using EQ’s & effects to give the music dynamics. I'm not keen on house DJ's who try to impress with overly flashy tricks and elaborate overuse of effects, unnecessarily complicating the music. The quality of the music and production should be allowed to speak for itself. I like to compare a set to completing a jigsaw puzzle with each piece of the jigsaw representing a track. You find two pieces of the puzzle which look like they go together, yet don’t quite fit when trying to interconnect the pieces. Using this analogy to describe how I construct a set, my aim is to find records that don’t sound mediocre when mixed together, but to find track combinations that sound as though they were specifically made for each other - the perfect track, the perfect mix, the perfect fit! I love quality house & techno from across the spectrum, something that is reflected within my vinyl collection. When I DJ the main emphasis is to keep it deep, but keep it interesting with plenty of bite. I like to play everything from warm and melodic deep house to stripped back glitchy minimal, dub-techno through to pulsating techno - joining the dots between so that the musical variations logically interconnect and don't sound disjointed. I am resident DJ & one of the founding members of the Bristol based Mi Casa Su Casa Crew. Our aim is to put on bespoke, intimate parties where there is a real sense of community & belonging. To date I have played alongside international talent such as Dave DK, Steve O’Sullivan, Christopher Rau, Oliver Deutschmann, Shinedo, Roberto, Roman Lindau, Locked Groove, & Johanna Knutsson.
