Biografía

At the early age of four, John began stacking LP records and creating musical sequences on the family’s Hi-Fi stereo in Buffalo, New York. The son of a Big Band saxophonist, John started collecting records before the age of ten. Early influences from The Beatles to Motown, Stevie Wonder to The Spinners, 70's Soul, The Philly Sound and classic Disco helped to shape his musical identity that would point him towards a life as a DJ. October of 1979, at the age of eighteen, John was chosen by his DJ peers to perform at the World’s Largest Disco. There he joined Gloria Gaynor, The Trammps, The Raes and Bobby DJ Guttadaro, playing for over 14,000 people - the largest dance crowd assembled to date. In February of 1980, John traveled to Los Angeles to attend the Billboard Disco Forum. There, he was welcomed by industry greats such as DJ Jim Burgess, Ray Caviano of Warner/RFC Records, and Michael Ellis of WKTU Radio in NYC (the country’s first and only all-disco station). Their inspiration and belief in John’s talent sparked a determination to audition in New York - and John soon found himself spinning for a coveted residency at the famed New York-New York club in NYC, and getting the gig. John’s smooth transitions and masterful overlays became his trademark and opened the door to a career in some of Manhattan's hottest clubs. He became resident at the Underground and then The River Club (formerly 12 West); he was a guest artist at the celebrated Studio 54, The Saint, Roxy and Limelight. Regular appearances on New York’s WKTU and WBLS Friday Night Dance broadcasts, DJ stints at the acclaimed Fire Island Pines Pavilion and The Ice Palace soon followed. John’s unique and distinguished style entertained and moved the savvy NY dance club crowd. Through his appearances in New York, Miami and Las Vegas and recent collaborations with DJ greats Michael Fierman, Morabito and Jellybean Benitez, John continues to impact the dance music scene. Recently playing at the Winter Music Conference in South Beach, the grand opening of the New Pavilion in the Fire Island Pines, the After Party for Pines Party 2013 and as a featured artist on Sirius/XM Radio Studio 54, John continues to bring his unique perspective to dancers everywhere.
