Over the years, Joel has received numerous honors including four Grammy Nominations, an honorable mention in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition,an honorable mention in the VH1 Song of the Year Awards, and a EP review in Forbes Magazine entitled, "Joel Holmes Brings "Blackness Back Into House Music' With Live Jazz Infused Electronic Music Ep "Osmosis."(Toytonics). Joel has toured the world with Grammy winning jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove, vocalist Nnenna Freelon, Saxophonist Javon Jackson and many others as well as under his own name. Joel was also a member of Carl Craig’s Synthesizer Ensemble for several years and since has been producing Electronic Music and collaborating with Dj/Producers such as Cody Currie whom he had 2 Ep Releases with on the Toytonics Label, and a solo EP(Osmosis). Joel Holmes has released his new Album "Into the Abyss." on the Kryptox label in Berlin and leads several bands including The Joel Holmes Expansion band which blends House Music, Jazz, and Soul.
