Jed Cohen is a Cape Town based DJ/Producer. His first proper exploration of electronic dance music began in 2007, when he found himself immersed in the Electro-clash dance scene of the time, taking large influence from DJ/Producers Simian Mobile Disco, Erol Alkan, Boys Noize, Chemical Brothers and Justice to name a few. In 2011 his former alias, Pixel Pop was born with a refined sound of bass heavy House that allowed the name to quickly become a regular fixture in the Cape's electronic music scene playing club nights and festivals around the country. In 2014, the Pixel Pop alias was left to rest and a new more eclectic and stripped down techno sound emerged in the form of the new moniker “JED”. JED's production as well as dj sets push a rough edge Techno feel heavily influenced by labels such as Electric Deluxe, Monomblack, Arts Records, Illian Tape, Blueprint Recordings, PoleGroup, Opal Tapes, Token Records and Modularz to name a few. On the production front, Jed will be releasing his debut EP on South Africa imprint Knowledge Recordings in early 2017.
