Here & Now Recordings was set up in 2005 by DJ, producer, music journalist, record shop buyer and all round music enthusiast John Cunningham. Having explored the worlds of House Music, Soul, Boogie, Disco, Funk, Jazz and Afrobeat Here & Now Recordings set on it's current Cinematic Sounds path following a series of projects with world class producer and composer Colin Baldry after a chance meeting at Zone Music Publishing's xmas party in 2011. Colin records for Here & Now under the names Ambient Jazz Ensemble and Dylan Colby. Pivatol moments in John Cunningham's musical journey include seeing Coldcut dj at the Blue Note, Hoxton Square in the mid 1990s, working in Reckless Records, HMV and Flashback Records (building up not only a wealth of musical knowledge but also a fantastic set of contacts), being a founder member of Beware the Cat magazine, regular weekly visits to Plastic People night club on Curtain Road, Shoreditch to the Co-Op, and CDR nights (and also to see such amazing visiting djs playing a diverse selection of music including Theo Parrish and Francois Kervorkian), the release of Ambient Jazz Ensemble 'Suite Shop' (which has been a game changer for Here & Now Recordings leading us down the film, tv and games music path to work with David Baron, Rich Keyworth and Jean-Luc Sinclair) and working on music for the hit feature film Filth starring James McAvoy.
