Biografía
From Sun Ra to Joy Division, via Oumou Sangaré, Jay Ka produces and DJs from his various musical influences. He makes the most of his musical universe by becoming soaked with urban rhythms from the countries where he grew up, such as Senegal or Reunion Island. Those musical worlds that surrounded him became his sound playground, and every culture feed his musical experience. At the age of 16, he got behind the decks for the first time and began mixing at a rave party. At the beginning of 2000 he mixed on a regional radio where his programming was a big hit, and from there he crossed Europe and played in the most influential European clubs, in cities such as London, Barcelona and Brussels. Having mastered his first machines, Jay Ka produced numerous titles before his departure to the United States in 2009. In Los Angeles, he was invited to play in prestigious clubs, in particular, The Ecco Club of Hollywood and The 740. After Jay Ka’s return to Europe, he met Alain Ho aka DJ Yellow, with whom he began to collaborate and increase his sound production skills. Several maxis were released on the Phonogram label, a subdivision of Syncrophone; “Everybody Needs to Love”, “Maternal Memories”, and “We Call It Ass-Id” on “Various Artist”, playlisted by LAURENT GARNIER on the Radio BBC 1 in April, 2014. After his maxi Deep-Techno at the beginning of 2014 under the pseudonym Kogui, he also produced an EP with Paula King of Chicago on Saft Records. In 2015, several new productions are to come, one of which is a new EP “Stay Grounded” on As it is. Some of his tracks were remixed by Norm Talley, Steven Tang, Kai Alce, and NY*AK, on the various labels already mentioned.
