Javier Almenares

Javier Almenares approaches techno as a form of storytelling. Rather than viewing the dancefloor as a space for spectacle, he sees it as a place for immersion, connection and reflection. His sets are built through tension, progression and carefully curated musical selection, creating journeys where movement and introspection coexist in balance. Influenced by artists such as Oscar Mulero, Adriana López and Luigi Tozzi, his musical language moves between hypnotic rhythms, raw textures and groove-driven momentum. Every transition serves a purpose. Every layer contributes to a larger narrative. Every moment of release is earned through patience and progression. Born in Havana, Cuba, Javier's relationship with music began long before techno entered his life. After years exploring guitar, bass and piano, he discovered electronic music during a period marked by personal loss and transformation. What he found on the dancefloor was more than entertainment: it was a space where people could disconnect from the pressures of everyday life and reconnect with themselves through sound. In 2022, he co-founded Under Rave , helping organize independent underground events in Havana. Shortly after, he became involved with the local techno community through projects such as Maniatic Techno and later Covenant, performing in the same spaces that had originally inspired his connection to the culture. After emigrating to the United States, his relationship with music continued to evolve. In 2025, together with his friend José, he co-founded SONOVIA, an initiative centered around the idea of sound as a path for learning, connection and artistic development. Today, Javier Almenares remains focused on the values that first drew him to techno: authenticity, community and human connection. He feels most at home in intimate clubs and warehouse environments, where proximity to the dancefloor allows for a deeper exchange between artist, audience and sound. For Javier, techno is more than a genre. It is one of the few places where differences disappear, barriers lose meaning and people can experience a genuine sense of freedom and connection.
