Ilya Gurin-Babayeu is an emergent presence in independent electronic music. He blends influences from London’s underground scene with a refined and distinct style. A key figure at Warsaw-based DERSCHEIN and AXXID labels and affiliated with London’s Fragment On Machines platform, Ilya has captivated audiences with his intuitive and inventive music production. Ilya began producing at 18, quickly gaining a reputation for his explorative, genre-crossing approach to techno. After his debut in 2021 with his LP AZ Shadow as the DERSCHEIN label's first release, he collaborated with Dima Kachan for Let Two Times Two Not Be Four EP (June 2022). His last release One Second Ahead, on AXXID (October 2022) was raw futuristic sound meeting the hypnotic grooves of classic techno. He also contributed the Lost R Frame track to a fundraising compilation on the Rudiment label curated by Stanislav Tolkachev in support of Ukraine (April 2022). After making his debut in Europe with a hybrid live set at the legendary Ved Siden Af club in Copenhagen Ilya took a break to focus on his production. He moved to London to pursue a Master’s degree in Sound Art, enriching his music with conceptual depth and shaping a new sonic aesthetic for his practice. Ilya has become a dynamic presence in London’s electronic music scene, appearing at clubs such as UNIT 58 and Venue MOT. He is also a frequent guest on Kindred Radio and hosted his show on Radio Relativa, featuring artists such as NEXCIYA, Voidal, Jung Latch, TOFUDJ, and Triš. Alongside continually exploring London’s contemporary music scene, Ilya began developing the conceptual and sonic framework for his latest project, ‘GAME-O’. Ilya has built his reputation on his intuitive understanding of techno and electronic dance music. This allows him to approach music production uniquely and experiment boldly with rhythms to create forward-thinking tracks.
