Ian Desmond…artist, inventor, label co-owner, and master of trailer park politics…is there nothing Detek Music co-owner Ian Desmond can’t do? Ian is a mainstay of the ever fledgling Detroit techno nightlife culture. From his boyhood roots in bass-guitar and punk rock through his teens deejaying playing keyboards and samplers across the mid-west, USA he eventually gravitated to engineering and producing, playing on bigger stages in farther away lands. Seeing someone involved on so many levels of the industry as he is there is no question he loves and is passionate about the music. Ian Desmond emerged on the dance scene as a deep house and electro-funk aficionado. He started his efforts with a release on DJ Jess's Fresca Recordings while in Chicago where he spent his early twenty's. Mr. Desmond cut his teeth in the international dance world as label boss and publisher for The Blazaebla Label in the early 2000’s and featured releases by Gaiser, F n’ H, Monologic, Daedum, Cyborg-K among others. Well traveled and performing alongside many of the biggest techno acts in the world Ian enjoys performing at festivals, clubs and rave gigs. Ian Desmond’s Live PA is an ever-evolving myriad of technologies. It’s sometimes as simple as a laptop and controller, but often becomes a cluster of several controllers, rack gear, pedals, many keyboards and multiple computers. Doubling as a performer and a producer, Ian is beta testing tracks for Detek Music. He also works under multiple aliases with the newest moniker “Terrestrial Affairs” in collaboration with other Detroit based producers with roots from wide ranging musical styles. Ian's sound is diverse and the scenic nature lovers of Detroit describe his wide raging sounds as “funky, founded, grounded and moody”. Detroit dance junkies would call it “Techno”.
