Moe Espinosa, co-founder of BL_K Noise and also known as Drumcell, produces infinite movement with his Buchla and Eurorack systems as Hypoxia, a new project created to step away from the dance floor and into a broader space of contemplative drama. Inspired by the soundtracks of science fiction and cult cinema that Moe play played over and over on his VHS player late nights while growing up in Los Angeles in the 1980s, Hypoxia is an homage to cinematic composition, including those works of John Carpenter, Wendy Carlos, Goblin, and Vangelis. After his celebrated and instantly sold-out EP ‘A Constant Preparation for Loss’, Hypoxia debuted an all-hardware 2 hour live set at Berghain in Berlin on New Year’s Day 2016. Since its premiere, the Hypoxia has toured to highly curated atmospheres from Brooklyn’s Greyscale Series at Output to pop-up performances on the LA River. The forthcoming Hypoxia record "unwilling suspension of disbelief” will be released on Bl_k Noise this October 2016.
