Originally garnering attention with releases on Boxed, Insert and Corrupt Data, the artist has gone on to develop an instantly recognisable sound which draws on hard-hitting industrial elements and sci-fi aesthetics to form a boundary pushing, sound design-focused form of club music. HYPNA’s work spans the entire spectrum - a testament to his wide ranging musical taste which encompasses everything from post-rock to Memphis rap. From the hard-hitting, super effective club tracks of the Hangar Riot EP, to the texture-rich, cinematic focus of his halftime/DnB influenced collaborations with J-Shadow, HYPNA’s work draws from a wide range of styles. Few other producers are able to weave so many disparate strands into one cohesive sound, but HYPNA makes it look effortless. In 2023, HYPNA co-founded the artist collective and label Plasma Sources, which he intends to use to bridge the gap between the club and immersive listening experiences.
