It’s true that you never quite know what you’re going to get with Hutch, but in the club, the Fabric London resident's DJ sets intelligently explore the realms of house, techno and garage with an undeniable amount of groove and energy that is guaranteed to keep a dancefloor vibing. ‘Eclectic’ is a term often used to describe DJs. Usually it’s a title given to those who can mix different genres with ease and effortlessly switch between tempos and styles. When it comes to Fabric London resident Hutch, it’s more than that though. Born and raised in London, Hutch’s sound has never been reserved to one sound, it’s evolved through his experiences of playing and learning in some of the city’s most revered establishments, most notably Ministry Of Sound, where he rose through the ranks and absorbed everything thrown his way. Having been a Rinse FM resident for almost five years and through guest appearances on NTS and Balamii, his music has been heard on the airwaves as a staple of the scene. On a basic level, house, techno, jungle, DnB and UKG aren’t just genres he plays, they’re movements he’s fluent in, sharing stages with the likes of Nastia, Skream, Artwork, Benji B, Marcellus Pittman. Through his recent involvement in Chunk, the party he frequents with Jeremy, he’s played with DJ Bone, Shed, Deniro and Spencer Parker, further showing his ear for high-end sounds. His Notting Hill Carnival Boiler Room set is one for the books and comes off the back of Shy FX personally selecting him to tour alongside, being the only DJ to play all of his secret Cult:ure parties in London. The fact is, playing on the big stages at Glastonbury, Snowbombing and Secret Garden doesn’t phase him, he can show his worth just as much there as he can in the comfort of the basements he’s been born through. Being eclectic is more than playing different sounds, it’s about knowing them, living them and consuming them and if that’s the benchmark, Hutch has eclecticism in spades.
