Digging deep into his vast record collection, Mike draws his influences from decades of vinyl collecting, world travel, club experiences and late night conversations with friends. Focusing on the golden-era of 70s and 80s Disco, Boogie, Funk, Jazz and Gospel, his foray into music began at a young age influenced by his Dad’s record collection and helping his brother with his mobile disco shows. Inspired by the early pioneers of DJ mixing, he purchased a pair of turntables and honed his craft landing his first club residency in 1983 whilst living in Spain. A passionate vinyl collector, digger and DJ, Mike’s deep love for soulful music is still as strong as ever promoting his own Hot Buttered Soul events since 2007 from his home city of Bristol whilst guesting at various party’s and building a strong following via his Keakie radio shows.
