Born and raised in a small town in the suburbs of Lisbon, DJ HNRKSN is a vinyl lover and music curator with a deep appreciation for soulful, organic sounds. Growing up surrounded by jazz, Brazilian music, and house, his early influences include Roy Ayers, Theo Parrish, Ron Trent, Moodymann, João Gilberto, J Dilla, Pete Rock, Tania Maria, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Jorge Ben Jor, Glenn Underground, Larry Heard, and many others who continue to shape his musical identity today. Since moving to Copenhagen in 2016, HNRKSN has been calmly building his reputation as a selector with a warm, eclectic sound. His sets effortlessly weave through deep house, Detroit grooves, jazz-funk, Brazilian gems, and worldwide rhythms. In 2021, he relocated to New York City, spending two years immersed in the city’s dynamic underground scene. Between record shops, live concerts, and connecting with local artists, HNRKSN expanded his collection and broadened his musical horizons, bringing new textures and influences into his selections. Now back in Copenhagen, he continues to dig for timeless music and share his passion through carefully curated sets, often featuring vinyl alongside other formats.
