Half A Man

Half A Man is a DJ whose work centres on the exploration of house music and the spaces it shares with techno, disco and deeper strands of electronic music. Guided by a commitment to 4/4 rhythms, his approach is less defined by genre boundaries than by the relationships that emerge between sounds, textures and tempos. Growing up in Naples, his musical sensibility was shaped early by Neapolitan and Italian traditions before gradually expanding through exposure to electronic music and informal party culture during his teenage years. A fascination with analog machinery, raw textures and the physicality of sound led naturally toward record collecting and an evolving interest in DJing as a form of musical dialogue rather than stylistic limitation. Since 2010, Half A Man has been active within Naples’ underground landscape, playing clubs including Velvet, Boudoir and Lanificio 25, alongside independently organised parties across the city. Relocating to Berlin in 2016 introduced a new environment for experimentation and listening, informed by a city in constant musical transformation while maintaining a close connection to earlier influences and dance floor traditions. His sets are characterised by fluid movement between moods and registers, drawing from house, techno, disco and peripheral sounds without settling into fixed formulas. Focused on context, pacing and atmosphere, the emphasis remains on selection as an open process of connection and discovery. Alongside his DJ practice, Half A Man is currently involved in a number of developing collaborations and forthcoming label projects in Berlin, extending an ongoing interest in collective work, musical exchange and future-facing forms of dance music.
