Halal Kitty began throwing parties in early 2020, with friend Jam Eye, out of necessity for a safe space for Queer People of Colour in Edinburgh. During the pandemic they built a name for Mojxmma by providing virtual safe spaces on social media and through the airwaves on local radio. During this time Halal Kitty and Jam Eye moved to Glasgow and found a home for Mojxmma at newly-opened Queer co-op bar and club, Bonjour. There they have brought local selectors such as ISO YSO, Junglehussi, Plantainchipps and Elanda, and some from further afield including AUCO and Ase Manual, to party with them. Following on from the success of Mojxmma, Halal Kitty has also grown as an independent DJ in the Glasgow scene, having played alongside the likes of LSDXOXO, JYOTY and Byrell the Great, and at some of the cities most infamous parties including Riverside Festival, Ponyboy, H.O.T, the Art School and Peach.
