Born and raised in Portland, Groshong grew up a music lover and an avid collector of the many sounds he enjoys. Spoiled by the well rounded and accessible pop music of the time Groshong surrounded themself with the sounds of Hip Hop, R & B, and electronic dance music. With a strong desire to deepen his relationship with music, and share it with others, Grosh began to DJ and has been doing so ever since. Groshong's performances feature bass rich electronic breaks, uk garage, and multiple shades of house music, all tied together seamlessly with unclassifiable syncopation. Groshong is able to layer his selections with space enough for classic elements to shine, while creating mixes that highlight unusually symbiotic combinations that radiate through the dance floor. Behind the mixer Grosh is an experienced technician who has an exceptional ability to read the room and the experience to improvise, leading to tasteful selections which respect the past and cater to the future. During their early DJ years Groshong spent a lot of time attending events and enjoying parties from the dance floor, all the while learning and honing the craft as a selector. Eventually he began performing and sharing vibes around the Portland dance music scene, in addition to holding residencies as a DJ and a band member at several locations along the way. In 2017 Groshong Co founded the Nu Habitat collective and continues throwing events in and around PDX. As a party builder, Groshong specializes in curating daytime and outdoor dance music based events. Prior to making spaces with Nu Habitat Groshong was creator and lead engineer behind the the Caterpillar Island renegade which later evolved into the intimate Cocoon music festival. Groshong later began hosting sound camps with the Nu Habitat collective in addition to their campout "Meadow" held in the Columbia River Gorge. Although curating and building events is deeply fulfilling, and something he continues to do, Groshong is happiest selecting tunes and performing in front of dance floors where he is most as peace.
