Gio Gulez
Biografía
Born in Istanbul, Turkey to musically inclined parents, Gio Gulez moved to New York in 2002 and in the past couple of years he has been the icing on the cake in the New York techno scene in such roles as a DJ, promoter and nightclub manager.
Gio has played alongside the likes of DJ Three, Guido Schneider, Audiofly to name just a few and since 2005 he has been throwing and promoting some memorable parties in the East Village of New York.
Music has always been a part of Gio’s life. He started playing guitar at the age of 14 and like many adolescent boys his age his impetus for picking up the guitar was to simply pick up girls. But as his love for music (and his pick-up skills) blossomed, music became an increasingly important part of his life in it of itself. He started playing the piano at the age of 16 and at the age of 20, Gio began taking opera voice lessons. While growing up, Gio was heavily influenced by such artists as Guns & Roses, Metallica, The Cure, Depeche Mode and New Order.
At the age of 23, Gio played electronic music on the decks for the first time and his love of synthesizers, drum machines and sequencers was born. Gio started out playing classical house but as he started listening to such DJ’s as Richie Hawtin and Gaiser, his style of music shifted from classical house to minimal.
Gio started producing tracks a few years ago and his style can be currently classified as Deep Tech and Groovy Instrumental Dubby Bass. He likes to take it slowly to ensure every beat resonates in the hearts of listeners and make people feel more gravity.
Gio predicts that electronic music will have a bigger influence in all genres of music and that electronic music will become a more intellectual pursuit that will have an impact on all aspects of people’s lives not unlike hip hop 30 years ago. Stay tuned for upcoming gigs and releases from Gio Gulez.
